Dropped off my Laptop off on a Friday the issue was that it was slow and overheating, asked for them to check the fan and do a service. They called me the Saturday after midday and left no voicemail, I called them back on Monday and they said they needed my laptop code which I gave them. Everyday for the rest of the week I called them asking if they had a quote they said no and that they would the next day. On Friday he said the same thing (no quote will be ready tomorrow). I said I couldn’t wait any longer for my laptop and that I would just come pick it up since they hadn’t even looked at it yet (it had been 7 days at this point). He originally said yes I could come pick it up but then 10mins later called me back and said that actually I couldn’t pick it up anymore because it was being checked and had been pulled apart. After 5 hours I called asking for the diagnosis and quote and he said they were still looking. I ended up having to walk to the store to ask for my laptop back. When I walked in it was sitting on the counter never pulled apart, never checked, no diagnosis, no quote. 7 days and they didn’t do anything except lie to me so I wouldn’t come and pick up my laptop. He said it was my fault because I didn’t answer his call midday on Saturday (they could’ve emailed me, left a voicemail, or texted), since I called back Monday morning they still had 5 full days to do a simple service on my laptop but didn’t even touch it.

I had a truly awful experience with Northcote Computers. I brought my computer in for a cracked screen repair, expecting a straightforward fix. Instead, I was met with a series of frustrating missteps and delays.

First, it took them two weeks to even start the repair. To top it off, they didn’t have a charger to test the computer, so I had to bring my own. When I finally checked on the repair, the computer wouldn’t turn on at all.

A week later, I was told the motherboard needed repairs. Then, they couldn’t find a replacement motherboard, so they decided to find a replacement computer instead. This process dragged on for nearly two months.

In summary, what should have been a simple screen repair turned into an incredibly time-consuming ordeal. I’m very disappointed with the service and the lack of communication throughout the entire process. I would not recommend Northcote Computers based on my experience.

EDIT: i had been using the laptop prior to bringing it into your shop with an external monitor so the only damage was the cracked screen. the computer worked with no other issues. two months without a laptop as a uni student was very challenging when i expected a maximum 2 weeks for a broken screen.

Always helpful. The technicians here have a deeper knowledge about IT than any other tech person I’ve been to. Unlike other tech places who just have high school graduates as technicians, Northcote Computers are certified and qualified to answer the nitty gritty details. I like to ask a lot of questions about how things work, and so, not only have I gotten best deals on my last several laptops, but I’ve learnt a lot as well. It’s no surprise that they also are responsible for the IT needs of various businesses, and not just work on personal computers.
